Hirosaki Park in Natsu (夏)

Hirosaki Park Entrance

With a Japanese fortress-style entrance, one will enter Hirosaki Park.
Hirosaki Park was originally a castle held by the Tsugaru Clan, the ruling Samurai Family of Aomori Prefecture, the northwestern part of Japan.
It was gifted to the Japanese government in 1894, officially being designated as Hirosaki Park in the same year.
This entrance is the Otemon Gate, which is the East Gate of the park. There are other gates where one can enter as well.

During the summer, the weather is usually blazing hot. But there are times when you will feel a soft breeze as soon as you enter the park. There is a central square right after the entrance of the park, where other people are milling about and going on about their day. There will always be a tourist here and there, so you will definitely not feel out of place.

Beside the central square, to the right, there is a botanical garden. During the summer, the flora will be in bloom, so make sure you visit it so you can enjoy the exotic and

During spring (Sakura Blossom season), Summer and Fall, one can enjoy the water-filled moats surrounding the castle. They circle around the park filled with greenery and the sweet song of birds. There are multiple beautiful red bridges that look like massive pillars when on a boat.

These two(2) photos belong to different seasons, but convey a similar message: love. Hirosaki Park’s unique landmark is beautiful, even during the other seasons outside of Spring/Sakura season.

This is the central figure of Hirosaki Park, the Hirosaki Castle. At this time of the year 2026, the castle is under renovation. The changes will be finished in the same year so it will look more stunning and stylish after. Surrounded by modern architecture and buildings, this ancient building is a reminiscent of the Eda period of Japan, where the lands used to be ruled by individual families.
