After the super beautiful Hirosaki Cherry Blossom Festival is over, where everything turns pink and lots of people visit, Hirosaki Park changes into a calm and green place. It’s still really pretty, but in a different way! While the park is famous around the world for its cherry blossoms and all the excitement in spring, the early summer months are special too. It’s a quieter time, and you can really enjoy nature and history.
When the pink cherry blossom petals fall off the trees (they don’t last forever!), new green leaves start to grow everywhere. The park turns a deep, rich green color, and it feels peaceful and fresh. It’s a great time to walk around slowly and just enjoy the nature. The air smells clean and has a light, fresh scent from the new leaves and tiny flowers that are starting to bloom. It’s not the sweet smell of cherry blossoms anymore, but it’s nice in its own way.

One of the best things about visiting after the cherry blossom festival is that there aren’t as many crowds. In spring, it can get really busy! But in early summer, it’s much calmer. You can walk along the old castle moats (the water around the castle) and see the green trees reflecting in the water instead of pink flowers. The quiet sound of the leaves moving in the breeze replaces the loud talking from the festival. It’s a really relaxing sound to listen to while you walk.
This quieter time is perfect for really seeing Hirosaki Castle, which is one of the only twelve original castles left in Japan. You can take your time to look at the old buildings, like the tall, three-story main tower. Imagine the samurai (old Japanese warriors) who used to walk around there long ago! Without lots of people around, it’s easier to feel the history of the place.
Besides the castle, the park has lots of nature to explore. There’s a botanical garden(Hirosaki Castle Botanical Garden) inside the park that looks amazing in early summer. Lots of different kinds of plants and flowers are growing and blooming, with all sorts of bright colors. You can also find hidden paths that lead to quiet spots under the trees. These are great places to sit and read a book or just enjoy the quiet and peaceful feeling of nature.
Also, the early summer light looks really cool shining through all the green leaves. If you like taking pictures, this is a great time! The bright green leaves against the blue sky can make for some awesome photos. You’ll find beautiful scenes everywhere you look, from the green trees reflecting in the castle water to the sunlight making patterns on the ground.
Even the famous cherry trees look interesting in early summer. The pink flowers are gone, but the trees are covered in bright green leaves. You can really see the shape of the branches and how big and strong the trees are. It’s a different kind of beauty than when they’re covered in pink blossoms.
So, even though Hirosaki Park is super famous for its cherry blossoms in spring, it’s also a really nice place to visit in early summer. It’s calm, green, and not too crowded. You can really enjoy the peaceful nature, explore the old castle, and see a different, but just as beautiful, side of this special place. If you like relaxing and connecting with nature and history without lots of people around, then Hirosaki Park in early summer is like a hidden gem waiting for you! It’s a time to walk slowly, think quietly, and really appreciate the lasting beauty of this amazing place, long after the pink flowers have disappeared.
